Work order types
What each work order type does (Harvest, Processing, General, Miscellaneous, Infrastructure) and which to choose for each activity.

Every activity has a work order type. The type decides which sections the order shows, whether it creates or transforms inventory, and which cost centers the cost can go to. Choosing the right type prevents most reporting problems.
The type is set on the activity, not on each order: every order for that activity inherits it.
Which one to choose
Section titled “Which one to choose”| Type | What it’s for | What it does with inventory | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Harvest | Recording what comes out of the field | Creates inventory of the harvested product in the destination warehouse | Coffee picking, cacao harvest, fruit hauling |
| Processing | Turning one product into another in a plant | Consumes the input product and creates the output products | Wet mill, fermentation, drying, sorting |
| General | Work that isn’t for a single field, or that doesn’t move product | Creates no product; lets you split the cost across several cost centers | Supervision, security, kitchen, loading and hauling |
| Miscellaneous | Field tasks and other activities without product | Creates no product; also splits cost across several cost centers. Inputs are an optional section | Various tasks, house maintenance |
| Infrastructure | Maintenance done by your staff on an asset | Assigns labor and inputs to the asset | Internal roads, fences, warehouses |
Field-task types (fertilizing, spraying, weeding…) use fields, workers, inputs and machinery. See the sections in Work order.
Practical rules
Section titled “Practical rules”- Only one Harvest activity per product in the chain. If cutting, loading and hauling are all of type Harvest, the dashboard counts the same product three times. Keep as Harvest only the one that brings product into the warehouse and switch the others to General.
- A support activity shouldn’t ask for harvest product. For example, Harvest kitchen helper should be General.
- To split shared costs (supervision, security), use General and pick every cost center that benefits. Aragro splits the cost by the days and hours recorded. See Cost centers.
- Own maintenance vs. a supplier’s: if your staff does it, use an Infrastructure order. If a supplier invoices it, use an expense order.
I don’t see the section I need
Section titled “I don’t see the section I need”Some sections are optional depending on the type. For example, on a Miscellaneous order inputs don’t show by default: use the Add section button to include them.
Changing an activity’s type
Section titled “Changing an activity’s type”You can change the type on the activity, but it only affects new orders. Completed orders keep the type they were recorded with: if they need correcting, revert and re-enter them. See Correct a completed work order, purchase or payroll.
